Early 2026 marks the start of America’s 250th commemoration in George Washington’s adopted hometown, adding timely national relevance to a season of new openings and cozy, story-rich experiences.
Here’s a glimpse of what’s new this winter in Alexandria:
· Cozy Winter Romance. From the new Arielle Shoshana perfume boutique to craft cocktails at Bar 86 and playful
nights at Continues Arcade, Alexandria creates an inviting setting for winter romance, dining and after-dark fun. (Look for the boutique to open in January at 313 Cameron St., former home of Nuevo Mundo.)
· Commemorate America’s 250th. Founded in 1749, Alexandria kicks off its America’s 250th programming in early 2026, starting with the George Washington Birthday Parade, immersive winter museum exhibits and historic tours.
· Black History Month & Women’s History Month Spotlights. Black History Month and
Women’s History Month come alive in Alexandria through women-owned boutiques, Black-owned businesses and museums honoring the stories and impact of those who shaped the city and the nation.
· Global Flavors & Winter Restaurant Week. New openings like Umiya Sushi and Pupatella join a diverse dining scene, while Alexandria Winter Restaurant Week (Jan. 23 to Feb. 1) offers value-rich prix-fixe menus citywide. Alexandria Restaurant Week showcases the creativity of local chefs and breadth of international cuisine in neighborhoods throughout the city, including Old Town, Old Town North, Del Ray, Carlyle and Eisenhower, Arlandria-Chirilagua and the West End. This event highlights the city’s vibrant food scene and encourages visitors and locals alike to discover new neighborhoods and tastes.
