History buffs may want to save this date: Saturday, Sept. 20. That's when a sneak peek screening of Ken Burns' newest documentary "The American Revolution" will be shown on the historic grounds of the Yorktown Battlefield.
The battlefield park is about a three-hour drive from Alexandria.
Presented in collaboration with WHRO Public Media, York County and the VA250 Commission, this special evening will showcase never-before-seen excerpts spotlighting the critical events that unfolded during the Siege of Yorktown.
The full film will unfold in six episodes beginning Nov. 16 and and air for six nights through Nov. 21 fro m 8-10 p.m. ET on PBS.
Be among one of the first to experience the incredible storytelling and vivid imagery for which Burns is known, all set against the backdrop of the very battlefield where these historic events unfolded.
Before the screening, join fellow history buffs for an exciting afternoon filled with revolutionary fun and learning at the Revolutionary Festival. The festival promises a range of hands-on history activities and entertainment. This event is a collaboration between the park, local partners and supporters, ensuring an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.
Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, water, and to prepare for the weather.
