United Way of the National Capital Area is proud to host its 10th annual Do More 24 – a social movement that brings together charities, private companies and donors who are committed to making a difference in the community.
Since 2013, United Way NCA has supported more than 1,200 nonprofit organizations raising more than $13.7 million for this region’s heroes and the nonprofits that support the community every day.
This year’s theme is “Better United.”
“Over the last 10 years, we have been Better United. As a community, as a sector and as a region, and therefore we are going to continue to join forces as we recover from the pandemic and lift up our neighbors in need,” said Rosie Allen-Herring, president and CEO, United Way of the National Capital Area.
“During the last two years, we have seen small businesses, families and loved ones devastated by this pandemic, we have united with our neighbors in organizing around social justice and racial equity, we have seen unprecedented levels of hunger, unemployment, and deficits in education. We are truly Better United when we break down barriers to create a more equitable society where everyone in our community has fair and equal access to health, education and economic opportunity.”
During the day of giving, members of the community are encouraged to think about what they care most about; learn what others are doing to solve our region’s most pressing social problems, like food insecurity, mental health challenges, lost wages, the digital divide, or the emergence out of this current health crisis; and feel like they are Better United to DO MORE for the community.
In addition, Enterprise Holdings will make its annual delivery of critical school and hygiene supplies to Hammond Middle School. Enterprise has partnered with United Way NCA for the past four years delivering over 1,300 bags of critical supplies to the school.
