Aerosmith concerts set for August at MGM National Harbor
Legendary rock band Aerosmith will land at The Theater at MGM National Harbor for three concerts this summer, MGM announced Tuesday.
Band members Steven Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry (lead guitar), Brad Whitford (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass) and Joey Kramer (drums) will play their hits, which include "Dream On," "Sweet Emotion," "Walk This Way," and "Back in the Saddle."
The group has sold more than 150 million albums worldwide and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are the recipients of countless awards including four Grammys, eight American Music Awards, six Billboard Awards and 12 MTV Video Music Awards among many other honors. They're celebrating their 50th anniversary with a residency in Las Vegas with breaks for special tour dates.
The dates of the concert tour, dubbed "Aerosmith: Deuces are Wild — East Coast Run" in a nod to the MGM East Coast properties they're playing, for the MGM National Harbor shows just across the river from Alexandria are Thursday, August 8, Saturday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 13.
Audiences can expect "never-seen-before" visuals and audio from Aerosmith recording sessions. The performances will be presented in L-ISA Hyperreal sound, often described as a sort of "surround sound" experience. The band has partnered with Fireplay, which provided veteran show director Amy Tinkham (Paul McCartney, James Taylor) and show producer Steve Dixon (Guns N' Roses, Justin Timberlake) to bring a custom-designed version of this show to MGM National Harbor.
Also joining the Aerosmith creative team: Grammy Award-winning producer Giles Martin, known for creating the soundscape for The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, production and lighting designers Josh Zangen and Nick Whitehouse, also of Fireplay (Justin Timberlake, Coldplay), and the visual and special effects studio Pixomondo, known as the "visual wizards" behind Game of Thrones.
