ACT for Alexandria announces the return of Spring2ACTion, Alexandria’s community-wide Giving Day, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Now in its 16th year, the event aims to engage 10,000 donors and raise $2.5 million for 191 local nonprofit organizations. Last year, nearly 8,000 donors raised a record-breaking $3.1 million for more than 190 participating organizations.
Local nonprofits are navigating increased demand for services alongside funding challenges and reduced capacity. These economic headwinds are putting pressure on families and the organizations that support them. Spring2ACTion provides a critical infusion of flexible funding, allowing nonprofits to respond quickly and effectively.
“Spring2ACTion is an example of how our community comes together to support the organizations that care for our neighbors,” said Heather Peeler, President & CEO of ACT for Alexandria. “When we strengthen our nonprofit sector, we strengthen the economic well-being of Alexandrians. Every gift matters, no matter the size.”
Through Spring2ACTion, community members can help ensure these organizations continue providing essential support, from housing and food assistance to workforce development, healthcare, arts and culture, animal care, environmental conservation and more.
Early giving begins April 8 at www.Spring2ACTion.org, where donors can search by cause or organization and give from any device. Last year, 25% of gifts were $25 or less, underscoring the power of collective giving. Spring2ACTion reinforces that small contributions, when combined, create meaningful impact. “A thriving community starts with all of us,” said Peeler. “Giving locally is one of the most direct ways to say: I see what’s happening here, and I want to be part of the solution. When we give together, on the same day, for our community, that message resonates loudly.”
Community members are encouraged to donate, spread the word, and support the organizations working every day to make Alexandria a just, vibrant, equitable place where all who live and work here thrive and feel like they belong.
Since its inception in 2011, Spring2ACTion, the only citywide giving day in the region, has raised more than $26 million for the nonprofit sector serving the Alexandria community and each year the local businesses play a significant role. Spring2ACTion sponsors include Presenting Sponsors Amazon and the City of Alexandria, in addition to: AT&T, Kids’ First Years, Sikich, Virginia Housing, Penny Post, Pippin Toy Co. and Red Barn Mercantile, Royal Restaurant, Branded Realities™, Corcoran McEnearney, Wegmans, American Advertising Distributors of Northern Virginia, Betsey R.
