DC-based nonprofit ForestPlanet is teaming up with an R2-certified recycling firm, eRecyc, for a drive-through electronics recycling event.
Participants are encouraged to bring their old computers, monitors, scanners, printers, cell phones, fax machines, CDs and VCR/DVD players to the More Vang offices located at 4214 Wheeler Avenue on Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Most electronics contain hazardous materials and need to be specially recycled. A small disposal fee will be charged for each item and can be paid on site through a secure mobile payment processing system. A list of these charges can be found here.
For each load of electronics received, ForestPlanet will plant 10 trees as a part of their ongoing reforestation projects around the world.
