The Old Town Festival of Speed & Style, considered one of the most prestigious and premier car events on the East Coast, returns to Alexandria Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Title sponsor Burke & Herbert Bank has also announced that it will continue its involvement in the event for the fifth year in a row, to partner in this signature community event that is held on lower King Street and around Market Square.
The Festival has garnered tens of thousands of spectators to Old Town, doubling foot traffic to local businesses, generating widespread media coverage, and raising money for Alexandria-based nonprofits. The event is a high-sensory spectacle for participants, spectators and car enthusiasts, allowing them to experience the “Speed & Style” variety of exotic supercars and vintage motorcycles rarely seen sitting still for up-close viewing.
Center-stage at noon, a unique fashion demonstration will be presented, created to emphasize and enhance the style and elegance of the cars on display. The fashion demonstration will highlight the elegance and importance of natural fashion and its profound impact when paired with beautiful automobiles. Male and female models will be dressed and coiffed to match specific automobiles, center-stage, creating a stunning display of haute couture and glam.
An award presentation highlighting cars judged to be the finest in 11 categories, will immediately follow the fashion fun.
“We’re pleased to continue as the title sponsor of the Old Town Festival of Speed & Style for the fifth straight year,” said David P. Boyle, chair, Burke & Herbert Financial Services Corp. “Bringing a festival of this magnitude, outside of our flagship Headquarters highlights our hometown of Alexandria and enhances the vibrancy of the local business community. By donating all the proceeds to three local charities: Alive!, Community Lodgings and the National Breast Center Foundation of Alexandria, this festival aligns with our mission of being a true community bank.”
New for this year, the event will feature an assortment of cars from the iconic British car manufacturer, Jaguar. On display will be rare Jaguar road cars and sports cars from the 1950s through the 1980s. In addition to the cars, a myriad of different sponsors will be showcasing their goods under canopies strategically dispersed throughout the Festival area. And live rock and jazz music will add to the great vibe – provided by two well-known local bands.
This year’s Alexandria-based charitable nonprofits ALIVE!, Community Lodgings and National Breast Center Foundation, will be the event beneficiaries. ALIVE! is dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger. Community Lodgings aids impoverished families that experience homelessness to build a more sustainable life. National Breast Center Foundation exists to increase the individual survivability of breast cancer for everyone.
“This incredible event continues to grow in so many amazing ways – more cars, more people, more fun, more impact for Alexandria, and more funds for our local charities,” said Rick Myllenbeck, founder and chairman of the Old Town Festival of Speed & Style. “If you haven’t seen a fast, exotic, wicked-cool car like a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin or Cobra up close and in-person, this is the event for you! Combine that with high-style, fashion, music and fun, and you now know why this is such a special event. Please join us! Everyone is welcomed.”
In addition to the Festival itself, the pre-Festival High-Octane Ball will take place the night before, on Saturday, May 17, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Land Rover Alexandria. The formal ticketed gala event will highlight the “Style” element of Speed & Style and will have the James Bond feature movie “Casino Royale” as the theme of the evening. Tickets are now available for single or group tables. Partygoers can enjoy great food, wine, libation, live music, and a silent auction. As with the Festival, all proceeds go to the featured local charities.
