The next full production scheduled for the Little Theatre of Alexandria is the musical "School of Rock," which will be presented Feb. 7-28 at the theater, located at 600 Wolfe St. in Old Town Alexandria.
Based on the hit film, this hilarious new musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school.
There, he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band.
While teaching these pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within. (The New York Times says, “BE WARNED! There’s a love story in this one.”)
Based on the Paramount movie by Mike White. Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber | Lyrics by Glenn Slater | Book by Julian Fellowes; directed by Kristina Friedgen; choreographed by Kristina Friedgen and music directed by Aimee Faulkner. Produced by Christine Tankersley and Bethany Weinstein.
Shows are scheduled for Thursdays – Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $36, which includes reserved seating. For more information visit the theater's web page.
