The National Breast Center Foundation (NBC Foundation) and ALX Community proudly announces the inaugural Pink Weekend, a signature community fundraiser dedicated to breast cancer awareness and accessing lifesaving screening and treatment in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the foundation and Walk to Bust Cancer. This year’s milestone weekend features two marquee events:
ALX Pink Gala — Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., ALX Community ("The Atrium")
10th Annual Walk to Bust Cancer — Sunday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 a.m., Fort Hunt Park (This event is postponed due to the federal government shutdown.)
The inaugural Pink Weekend marks 10 years providing access to life-saving screenings for women in the NoVA and DMV area; it’s a weekend of celebration dedicated to raising $400,000 to directly support our community.
The Pink Weekend also comes at a critical time. A growing number of women (& even men) are hurting in our area from lost jobs, healthcare coverage or fear. Many are skipping health appointments - including cancer treatments - even though missing even one annual mammogram can have a significant impact on a woman's future.
Supporting the Pink Weekend goes directly to buying mammograms, follow-up diagnostics and even limited treatment options so that our sisters, mothers, wives, friends and neighbors get the screenings and access they need and deserve.
This highly anticipated fundraising event supports NBCF’s mission of expanding access to lifesaving mammograms, diagnostics, and treatments for women and men in the greater DC area. For the past decade, NBCF has provided these critical services at no cost, ensuring care is available regardless of income, insurance status, or background.
Guests are invited to don their Pink Tie Optional attire and enjoy an evening featuring an open bar and hors d’oeuvres, music and dancing, interactive experiences, a lively silent auction with unique local prizes and the opportunity to kick off Alexandria’s Pink Weekend. This year introduces an exclusive VIP Rooftop Experience at Above ALX Community. VIP guests will enjoy early entry, premium cocktails, elevated hors d’oeuvres and a private rooftop reception overlooking Old Town before joining the main celebration.
In addition to ticket sales, the Pink Tie Gala offers unique sponsorship opportunities for businesses and community leaders looking to make a meaningful impact.
