Goosebumps-Inducing Ghost Tours
o Visitors looking for a sure-fire fright can embark on lantern-led ghost tours throughout the season from tour companies including Alexandria Colonial Tours, Alexandria Ghosts and Nightly Spirits.
o Plus, Lee-Fendall House Museum will offer a special “Screams and Disease” tour on Oct. 18, 25 and 26, revealing the dark and bloody history of the estate when it served as a Civil War hospital.
Family-Friendly Fun
o On Oct. 26, spend the afternoon picking up goodies at participating boutiques around town during the Old Town Family Trick or Treat, organized by Old Town Business.
o Little ghouls and goblins can gallivant across the gangway in costume during tall ship Providence’s seasonal special events. The “Halloween Howl” on October 26 features rotating activity stations at the floating Sen. John Warner Maritime Heritage Center, and the all-ages “Pirates of Providence” sail on Oct. 27 boasts nautical live music and a signature pirate cocktail for grown-up swashbucklers.
o The annual Del Ray Halloween Parade returns once again on Oct. 27, where children, adults and pets are invited to march and show off their finest and scariest Halloween garb and compete for prizes.
o On Nov. 2, wrap up spooky season in Carlyle with Alexandria Fall-O-Ween, complete with costume parades, arts and crafts, treats and more.
·Creepy Pub Crawls
o The Official Alexandria Halloween Bar Crawl on Oct. 26 kicks off at The Light Horse and guides participants through Old Town eateries offering exclusive food and drink specials all night; costumes are encouraged.
o Nightly Spirits’ “Booze and Boos” tour, offered multiple times this month, encourages guests to soak up chilling tales as they sip their way through select Old Town eateries.
·Festivities with Furry Friends:
o Bring your four-legged companions to Old Town Business’s Doggie Trick or Treat for goodies from some of your favorite Old Town boutiques on Oct. 27.
o Feline fans will want to visit Mount Purrnon Cat Café + Wine Bar for Halloween happenings including the “Paws and Potions” event on Oct. 18 and “Halloween Book Swap and Sip” on Oct. 24, with adoptable cats joining in both events.
