George Washington Birthday Parade
Annual parade in Old Town Alexandria celebrates George Washington.
The 2025 George Washington Birthday Parade kicks off Saturday, Feb. 15, from 2-4 p.m. in Old Town Alexandria.
The theme of the 2025 parade is "George Washington: America’s Commander-in-Chief" in honor of the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolutionary War.
The grand marshal for the big event is Lt. Gen. Heidi J. Hoyle, deputy chief of staff, United States Army. “I’m honored to serve as Grand Marshal of the George Washington Birthday Parade," Hoyle said. About George Washington, she said: As our nation’s first Commander-in-Chief, he embodied the true spirit of selfless service and dedication to liberty. I thank the City of Alexandria for inviting the U.S. Army to join in celebrating his enduring legacy, especially as we approach the Army’s 250th birthday this June.”
