The Fifth Annual Ethiopian Fall Festival is coming up this weekend in Alexandria, on Sunday, Oct. 12, from 1-7 p.m., featuring live music, traditional dance performances, authentic Ethiopian cuisine, coffee ceremony, honey wine tastings, cultural vendors, children's activities and a community soccer game.
The festival will take place at Chinquapin Park, 3210 King St. Parking is available at the Alexandria High School Garage. Fare-free DASH bus transportation is available with convenient stops on King Street at Chinquapin Park.
This celebration showcases Ethiopian heritage through performances by the Harmonic Fusion Band, singers Fitsum Mahdere and Fantish Bekele, traditional dancers, Ethiopian youth performers, and Ethiopian & Eritrean Student Association members.
The festival is organized by the Ethiopian Community Support and Assistance Center (ECSAC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the Ethiopian and broader immigrant community through cultural, educational, and social programs. The festival is open to all community members and families.
