Luann de Lesseps, known for her iconic presence on "The Real Housewives of New York City," is bringing her unique brand of entertainment July 27 to The Birchmere in Alexandria. Her latest cabaret show, "Marry, F, Kill," promises an evening filled with humor, music and the glamorous style that Luann has made her signature. In a recent phone interview, Luann shared insights into the inspiration behind the show and what fans can expect.
Luann's journey into the world of cabaret began in 2018 with her show “Countess & Friends,” which was featured on the RHONY Season 11 finale. Fast forward to today, and the title of her latest show, "Marry, F, Kill," which stems from a popular audience interaction segment in her previous shows.
"Every cabaret show, I do a Q&A with the audience and every single show I've been asked, 'Marry, F, kill,' and given the choices, right?" she explained. This playful and engaging concept inspired the new tour's name, allowing Luann to delve into themes of love and relationships.
The show is a blend of personal stories, pop culture references, comedy, and, of course, music. "It's really about love stories gone good, love stories gone bad, marriages, et cetera," she said. "So it's a behind-the-scenes look at my stories, and it's cabaret meets pop culture, meets comedy, meets a fashion show because you're gonna see a lot of Jovani going around.". Fans can look forward to an evening that feels both intimate and extravagant, a hallmark of Luann's performances.
Aside from hearing her hit singles such as “Money Can’t Buy You Class” live, one of the most exciting aspects of Luann's cabaret shows is her eclectic setlist. Fans can expect to hear covers of iconic songs by artists Shania Twain, Fleetwood Mac and Miley Cyrus. When asked about her favorite artists to emulate, Luann shared, "You know, I got to say, Stevie Nicks, Shania Twain and Tina Turner."
For fans who have missed seeing Luann on TV, the show is an opportunity to catch up with her in a more personal setting. “It's very 'behind the scenes,' because it's personal to me. And so fans are going to see a side to me that they never got to see [on the show].” She attributes this connection to the shared history and experiences of her audience, many of whom have followed her journey on "The Real Housewives of New York City."
The upcoming performance at The Birchmere promises to be a full-on party, with fans dressing up and immersing themselves in the experience. "People get dressed for the show…there’s sequins, and it's just a full-on party. And people don't know what to expect because what you see on the 'Housewives,' it's just a glimpse into my cabaret show," Luann noted.
