City Cruises Washington D.C., announced Wednesday that the 2025 season of the Potomac Water Taxi will officially begin operations on Saturday, March 1. With daily routes connecting The Wharf, Georgetown, Old Town Alexandria and National Harbor, the water taxi offers Washingtonians and visitors alike a convenient and scenic way to explore the capital’s top destinations.
“Whether you’re commuting, sightseeing, or celebrating the National Cherry Blossom Festival, the Potomac Water Taxi remains a trusted and enjoyable way to experience the city from the water,” says Chad Barth, vice president, Mid-Atlantic Region, City Cruises, which operates the water taxi. “We’re proud to offer a unique transportation option that highlights the beauty and vibrancy of D.C.”
The cherry blossom festival is set for March 20-April 13.
The season kicks off just in time for the National Cherry Blossom Festival, with the popular Cherry Blossom Water Taxi tour offering stunning views of the blooms along the Potomac River shoreline. Guests can also enjoy the iconic sights of the capital on the Monuments Tour, which continues through the summer and fall.
Departures begin at The Wharf at 11:45 a.m. and will depart every 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the day of the week. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or for same-day trips at ticket booths located at each port. Season Passes are also available for Potomac Water Taxi, giving guest unlimited access to routes throughout 2025.
