Baseball and cherry blossoms, made from LEGOS.
Cherry blossoms are blooming both outside and now also inside at the LEGO® Discovery Center, 6563 Springfield Mall Suite 12004, in Springfield and at traveling exhibits throughout the Metro DC area during the spring season.
Hundreds of LEGO® cherry blossoms and and even 20 more cherry blossom trees than last year have been built using 12,200 LEGO bricks. The entire project took more than 45 hours by the Center’s Master Model Builder, Andrew Litterst.
In addition, a beautiful 10-foot wide by 7-foot tall cherry blossom mosaic is being constructed out of 94,326 LEGO bricks with help from locals attending various festivals around Washington D.C.
The mosaic will be traveling to various Cherry Blossom festivals including the Blossom Kite Festival at the Washington Monument this Saturday (March 29), Petalpalooza at DC's Navy Yard next Saturday (April 5), and the Springfield Town Center Blossom Festival on Saturday (April 12) and guests can help add their touch to the community build.
The final LEGO mosaic art will be on display for guests at LEGO® Discovery Center Washington D.C. starting mid-April. The picturesque design took Litterst just more than 75 hours to design.
