Here's more about the book store, from TheShopkeepers.com:
Old Town Books is a general interest independent bookshop in the heart of historic Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Established in 2018 by Alexandria native Ally Kirkpatrick who relocated the bookstore in 2020 to a lovely corner building on Royal Street.
The bookshop underwent a complete renovation including purpose built bookcases, shelves and cabinets. Graphic signage decorates the walls and the exterior wall boasts a colorful mural by Sarah Apple of Lucky Signs in Richmond, Virginia. The renovated bookstore still retains plenty of its historic charm. T he early 1800s building has had a checkered history including its use as an oyster house, an insurance company headquarters as well as a shop. The old walk in bank safe is testament to this historic building which is stabilized by metal poles terminating in the attractive stars on the side of the building.
Old Town Books offers free book clubs, in-store and virtual, author events, sidewalk sales, and a membership programme. Book Love is their charitable giving program that donates books to local classrooms and children's health clinics. As well as a wide range of books there is a selection of stationery, puzzles, and gifts.
