Back by popular demand, the Banned Book Speakeasy is returning to The Study at Morrison House from Tuesday, Nov. 4 to Saturday, Nov. 8 from 5-10:00 p.m.
You are invited to visit The Study, a haven for storytelling, writing its next chapter with partner Virginia Library Association to fill its dark academia-inspired shelves - and cocktail menu - with even more banned books to celebrate the magic of forbidden stories, and support the libraries that keep them alive.
As a guest at the speakeasy, you can expect:
A banned book inspired cocktail menu, featuring new cocktails and mocktails spotlighting different banned books, including books from Pen America's 2025 List
Live piano music, setting the mood for an unforgettable literary escape
Creative ordering experience using a timed entry “Prologue Pass,” a secret phrase which is your key to slipping past the librarian and into the hidden world of forbidden tales.
One dollar from every cocktail sold from the Banned Book Speakeasy menu will go directly to the Virginia Library Association to provide scholarship funds for librarians, support Friends and Foundations of targeted libraries, and augment book budgets for libraries.
