Fall is a great time to get out and about and see some live music and there’s no better place in Alexandria than The Birchmere, where you can see a number of Grammy Award winners perform this fall, including 10-time winner Arturo Sandoval; Robert Cray, a five-time winner; Lori McKenna, a three-time winner, two-time winner Kathy Mattea (recently invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry) and the award-winning Wallflowers.
Sandoval was feted in 2024 at the Kennedy Center Honors. "Arturo Sandoval transcended literal borders coming from Cuba 30-plus years ago and today continues to bridge cultures with his intoxicating blend of Afro Cuban rhythms and modern jazz," the Kennedy Center said of the artist.
The Birchmere is located at 3701 Mt. Vernon Ave. It features a supper club style main hall and a bandstand area. The Birchmere warns customers to only purchase in-person at their box office or through ticketmaster.com exclusively. The box office is open any day there is a performance, from 5-9 p.m.
