The Alexandria Seaport Foundation welcomes visitors during Alexandria's Sails on the Potomac event.
Neighbors, friends, and visitors braved the heat this past weekend to join Seaport members during Alexandria's Sails on the Potomac event celebrating the nation's 250th anniversary.
Many first-time visitors stopped by, including one who shared: "I've walked by many times, but I've never been inside!"
Seaport loves to introduce its facility to new supporters and share all that they do in its Apprentice Program. The waterfront was teeming with enthusiasm, and members enjoyed engaging with folks each day.
What Happened Inside & Out:
Downstairs: Workshop tours and display of Apprentice woodworking projects.
Upstairs: Model ships brought to us by the Washington Ship Model Society, alongside a few of our own models.
The Team: Apprentices, dedicated volunteers, and board members chatted with visitors both inside the shop and outside by our boats.

The Kalmar Nyckel tall ship sails on the Potomac River last weekend in Alexandria.
Next Dock: The Kalmar Nyckel provided a stunning backdrop (see rainbow picture!) and helped create a festive atmosphere for everyone who came by.
Kickoff: This Year's Boat Raffle!
The Alexandria Seaport Foundation officially launched its annual boat raffle at Sail250.
Those who purchase raffle tickets have a chance to win a beautiful Iain Oughtred Designed MacGregor Sailing Canoe. It's described as a highly capable, double-paddle "double-ender" canoe that can be paddled like a kayak but carries a sailing rig beautifully.
