Alexandria interior and floral designers are among those who will Light Up The Season for the young patients of Children's National on Sunday, Dec. 16 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown.
The annual fundraiser, at which area children can decorate cookies, make ornaments, talk with Santa and enjoy musical performances and a vast array of holiday foods along with their parents, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Since all proceeds benefit Children's National, it is a magical afternoon for the young participants, embodying the spirit of the holidays as they have fun and help others at the same time.
For sale at the event will be the enchanting decorations, trees, mantlepieces and more created by a collaboration between Children's National patients and prominent area designers and artists around the theme "Home for the Holidays." Alexandria designers include Akseizer Design Group, Helen Olivia Flowers and Atelier Ashley Flowers.
Tickets for the Dec. 16 event are $50 per child 16 and under, $85 per adult or $250 per family of four (two Adults and two children 16 and under). For tickets, visit childrensnational.org/lightuptheseason.
Light Up The Season is co-hosted by Children's Health Board and Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC. Honorary chair is April McClain Delaney, Washington director of Common Sense Media (and wife of Maryland Congressman John Delaney).
Event co-chairs are Shannon Burkhart, Susan Hayes-Long and Muffin Lynham.

Rachel Gang, owner and lead designer of Alexandria's Helen Olivia Flowers, designed this Enchanted Unicorn Tree with patient Kataleya who shared her love of horses, unicorn, tulle tutus and candy. Since Kataleya was named after the beautiful Cattleya Orchid, Gang also incorporated orchids into the design.
Rachel Gang also worked with young patient Ali to incorporate Ali's love of ballet and ice cream and donuts into this Chanukah tabletop.

Santa will be on hand to visit with young guests at the Dec. 16 event.
Jeff Akseizer and Jamie Michael Brown of Alexandria's Akseizer Design Group created a winter sleigh ride journey on their tree titled "Make Every Moment Count: Don't Be a Grinch," inspired by 7-year-old patient Johnny who told them he loved everything about Christmas, especially the Grinch.
