Get ready to have some fun Saturday in Old Town Alexandria!
Alexandria will celebrate its 276th (and the USA’s 249th) birthday on Saturday, July 12, at Oronoco Bay Park, at 100 Madison St. in Alexandria.The evening includes live music and food and drink vendors and ends with the grand finale--a fireworks display on the Potomac River starting at 9:30 p.m. The fun begins at 6 p.m., ending with the fireworks finale from 9:30-9:45 p.m. Admission is free.
In case of inclement weather, the full event will be rescheduled for Sunday, July 13, at 6 p.m. The forecast on Tuesday shows a slight chance of rain around 10 p.m.
Visitors are encouraged to bike, walk, or take alternative public transportation. For a list of garages and parking lots in the Old Town historic district, visit Where to Park in Old Town. Handicapped-accessible parking will be available on the 500 block of N. Fairfax Street. For those traveling by bike or scooter or in need of stroller drop-off, GO Alex will offer a free bike/scooter/stroller valet on Fairfax Street at the entrance of Wythe Street Park leading to Oronoco Bay Park.

Oronoco Bay Park has lawn seating, and participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Grilling, smoking, tents, and large or staked umbrellas are not permitted. If groups or families are separated, an area for lost persons will be located at the City stage and at the City Birthday information tent located near the center of the park at the Mount Vernon Trail. Please leave pets at home and be mindful of your neighbors by refraining from smoking at this event.
