Broadcasting live on Friday, July 3 from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, "A Capitol Fourth: 250 Weekend Celebration" will feature the national television debut of country music icon Trace Adkins’ new song “American Made,” along with spectacular fireworks live from George Washington's Mount Vernon.
"I have been fortunate enough to have played a small part in several of the A CAPITOL FOURTH celebrations over my career," reflects Adkins. "But to be invited to join the 250th birthday of our great country is an honor beyond all others."
Tune in July 3 from 8-9:30 p.m. ET on public television stations nationwide (check local listings), and for American Forces Network for service members around the world.
This beloved 46-year holiday tradition is America's annual birthday party at the U.S Capitol, with all-star musical and patriotic performances by pop, country, R&B, Broadway, classical and gospel artists along with the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly.
PBS will air the the finale fireworks from Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington, located down the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. (Tickets are sold out to Mount Vernon on July 3 and July 4.)
For those who want to attend in person, here's the scoop:
- The concert is free and open to the public; no tickets are necessary.
- The concert will take place on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol
- Public access opens at 3 p.m.The public will not be admitted to the West Lawn of the Capitol before that time.
- Checkpoints will be set up, and all bags and parcels will be checked. Guests will be required to enter through a metal detector. The gates are located at the southwest corner of the Capitol grounds.
- There are viewing areas for the use of guests with disabilities.
- Dress rehearsal on July 2 is also open to the public.
