CRC
CRC, an Arlington-based development company, plans to transform the area just east of the Braddock Road Metro Station.
The developers propose tearing down 10 single-family homes located on North West Street, directly across from the Metro Station, and replacing them with a 7-story mixed residential-and-retail building at 727 N. West St.
The project has been named “Braddock West” and according to a CRC presentation at a summer community engagement meeting, it will be a “catalytic gateway to the Braddock neighborhood.”
The proposed 7-story building will include approximately 170 for-rent apartments and will include some affordable/workforce housing options. In addition, the proposal calls for 1,500 - 2,000 square feet of retail space and 12 flex space units. An underground parking garage with 105 spaces is also proposed.
CRC representatives hope that Braddock West will serve as a gateway to Alexandria and the continuation of a larger process to transform the Braddock Road metro area. They say that the building will have unique, quality architecture that is compatible with the historic character of Alexandria.

In addition, CRC reps say the Braddock West development is compatible with the City’s plan for the area including the Braddock Metro Neighborhood Plan and the Braddock East Master Plan adopted by City Council in 2008.
It will also compliment the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority’s (ARHA) future redevelopment of the Andrew Adkins property located directly behind and to the east of the Braddock West site.
Developers will present their proposal to the Braddock Implementation Advisory Group at a virtual meeting scheduled for Sept 10 at 7 p.m. Members of the public can register to attend the meeting here.
