Anyone with kids knows that getting them to sit still for a haircut is a challenge. Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids is an award-winning salon franchise that was founded in 2002 to make haircuts fun for kids and a location is opening soon in Alexandria in the former Hair Cuttery in Belle View Shopping Center (1522 Belle View Blvd.).
Sharkey’s advertises itself as “providing a superior haircut with warm, experienced stylists in a meticulously clean place filled with fun!” Kids can sit in novelty chairs made to look like cars and watch cartoons or Netflix while they get their hair cut or styled. Older kids can play Xbox One or PS4 or watch tv on large screens.
The salon offers glamour-themed birthday parties where attendees can be pampered with a pretty hairstyle and make-up. The salon also sells its own line of kid-friendly hair products.
Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids has salons around the world including other Northern Virginia locations in Lorton, Centreville and Sterling.
An opening date for the Alexandria location has not been announced.
