Updated April 2018: Glory Days Grill corporate management says the opening of the Alexandria Commons location may not be until August.
Glory Days Grill, a sports-themed family restaurant operating 26 corporate and franchised res
taurants in four states, will open a new restaurant at 3141 Duke St. in the Alexandria Commons Shopping Center.
This will be the company’s 15th location in Virginia and the first to be located in the City of Alexandria. Glory Days Grill will anchor the east end of the center, with an anticipated opening in either late 2017 or early 2018.
"We are excited to open Glory Days Grill in the west end of Alexandria," said Jeff Newman, president and co-founder, in a news release about the opening. "I know the local community will enjoy our sports themed and family-friendly restaurant. Our neighbors will also benefit from Glory Days' commitment and deep ties to local schools."
“Some of the main reasons we chose Alexandria Commons Shopping Center are the abundance of free parking, the opportunity to include a 600 square-foot banquet room, the designation of ‘15 minute only’ parking to accommodate carry out/to go customers, and a large covered patio that will extend the entire front of the restaurant,” said Newman. There will be outdoor seating for 20, according to paperwork filed with the City.
The new Alexandria Commons location will feature more than 6,700 square feet of dining, bar, and private banquet seating, with an abundance of TVs airing the latest sports, news and entertainment programming.
Guests will enjoy a comfortable, family-friendly yet modern atmosphere utilizing warm colors and tones, the company noted. The Alexandria Commons restaurant will provide fundraising programs for schools and teams, and managers will accept applications for team sponsorships starting in the fall of 2017, according to the company.
Glory Days Grill restaurants donate more than $450,000 annually to schools and teams through sponsorships, fundraising and other community programs. The company also recently announced the opening of a restaurant at Barcroft Plaza shopping center in Fairfax County.
