The new Five Guys burger restaurant at Potomac Yard is aiming for an early September opening, according to people at the just-opened Cava next door.
The new location is taking part of the building that formerly housed Don Pablo’s, a Mexican restaurant. This year, &pizza, Cava and Five Guys built out their own restaurants in the large space. Cava officially opened on Tuesday. &pizza opened earlier this summer.
Five Guys is based in Lorton, where it got its start in 1986. It offers a menu of burgers, fries, hot dogs, shakes and more. The first Five Guy opened in Arlington in the mid-1980s and has grown to more than 1,500 locations.
Five Guys opened a new restaurant on King Street in Old Town Alexandria in 2016, shuttering a smaller location in Old Town. (The King Street Five Guys is in the process of applying to be able to sell beer on site.)
Other area locations include Reagan National Airport, Quander Road near Belle Haven, Richmond Highway south of Groveton, Bailey's Crossroads, Annandale and Springfield.
Details about the specific opening date and festivities, food giveaways and more will be available in the coming weeks.
