Alexandria is one of the most dog-friendly regions of the country — Alexandria was named one of the most dog-friendly cities in the U.S. by Animal Planet.
Alexandria is home to a number of dog parks (see the list here) and now has a website entirely dedicated to dog-friendly Alexandria (see our story here on LeisurePup.com's launch).
Of all the dog breeds, however, the American Kennel Club has determined that the Labrador Retriever is the most popular among DC metro area dog owners. (It was also most popular among owners in Baltimore.)
“Labs remain the most popular breed in the nation’s capital,” said AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo, “But the clever and confident Airedale Terrier made a big move jumping 27 places in 2017.” (The Airedale Terrier is now ranked 7th.)
