Dog Park Improvements
A popular dog park that was closed was significant renovations will reopen on Monday, July 15 at noon.
The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities announced Thursday that the Eugene Simpson Stadium Dog Park will reopen Monday. The park, at 426 E. Monroe Ave., closed in late 2022. Construction took much longer than originally planned, in part due to the city's decision to fire the construction contractor and take over the project itself.
The project primarily addressed erosion and drainage issues in the dog park. A few items remain incomplete, including some plantings, a new message board and reconnecting lights (that will happen in August).
