Haven’t you heard? Halloween has gone to the dogs…and cats. Alexandrians love their pets, and there is no shortage of events coming up this October to celebrate the spooky season with your furry friends. Check out a few of them below:
Ghost Tails – Ghost Story Nights with Cats
Mount Purrnon Cat Café + Wine Bar (109 S. Alfred St.)
Oct. 15 | 7 p.m.-8 p.m.
Oct. 16 | 7 p.m.-8 p.m. and 8 p.m.-9 p.m.
Alexandria’s cat café, Mount Purrnon invites visitors to cuddle with adoptable black cats as they listen to spooky stories. Martha Washington will be in attendance to talk about haunted Mount Vernon and you are invited to share ghost stories of your own! The event is for ages 12+ and cost is $30/per person.

Halloween Ball: A Barkhaus Anniversary & Halloween Celebration
Barkhaus (529 E. Howell Ave.)
Oct. 21 | 7:30 p.m.-10 p.m.
Barkhaus is celebrating its first year anniversary and Halloween with a ball. Formal “spooky” attire is required for humans and pups. Guests will enjoy a photo-booth, spooky decor, extended hours, drinks, hors d'oeuvre and more! Attendees must be 21 or older and tickets are $75 for the public and $60 for members of Barkhaus (one dog per person). Tickets include puppacinos, a Barkhaus anniversary t-shirt, hors d’oeuvre and five drinks from the beer and wine bar. A portion of proceeds will go to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Doggy Trick or Treat
The Dog Park (705 King St.)
Oct. 24 | 1 p.m.
Costumed dogs will once again fill Old Town’s streets at the annual Doggy Trick or Treat presented by The Dog Park store. Dozens of Old Town boutiques will be handing out tricks and treats for your pup. Pick up a free goody bag and map from The Dog Park before you hit the shops. There will be a costume contest where winners in three different categories will receive a gift card from The Dog Park.

Howl-O-Ween at Lost Boy Cider
Lost Boy Cider (317 Hoofs Run Dr.)
Oct. 26 | 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m.
Do you dare to join Animal Welfare League of Arlington for a Halloween celebration at Lost Boy Cider? Enjoy a pet costume contest, live music by Sean Tracy, pumpkin painting, tacos from Brew Food VA available for purchase and delicious cider all while supporting animals in need. The event is sponsored by MBH Settlement Group. Tickets are $45 for registration with your dog and two 12 oz. ciders or $30 for registration without cider.

Halloween Candy + Wine Pairing

Paws & Pumpkins Party
Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (4101 Eisenhower Ave.)
Oct. 30 | 10:30 a.m.-noon
Are you looking for a new furry member of the family? Then bring the kids and drop by the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) to carve a Pet-O-Lantern and visit with best-dressed adoptable pets.. Your registration will reserve you a physically distanced table outside at the AWLA and include the cost of a supply bundle (which includes carving tools, markers, pet themed templates and a pumpkin). Registration is $25 per family and registration closes on Oct. 27. Please note personal pets are not welcome at this event, to allow adoptable pets to meet all the attendees. The event will be held rain or shine.

Nightmare at Barkhaus: A Halloween Celebration
