Does your dog struggle with leash pulling, nervous energy, or impulse control? The Alexandria Animal Academy is here to help. Their summer cohort is now enrolling for a series of low-cost, virtual dog training courses designed to help pets and their people live more harmoniously.
Beginning Sunday, July 6, the 7-week program offers three unique learning tracks: Confidence Building, Chill Out, and Leash Reactivity. The courses are open to all – you don’t need to be an Alexandria resident to participate. Each track starts at just $200, with options to audit the course or apply for scholarships.
Course Descriptions:
Confidence Building: Tailored for shy, fearful, or reactive dogs, this track helps pups who cower, hide, or act out aggressively in new situations or environments.
Chill Out: Ideal for high-energy dogs who struggle to settle down or display poor impulse control. If your dog is always on the go, this course helps them relax and reset.
Leash Reactivity: Designed for dogs who react strongly on walks — barking, lunging, or pulling when they see other dogs or strangers.
Participants can choose one, multiple, or all of the tracks. All courses are led by Beth Tumlin, CPDT-KA, the Academy’s on-staff behavior and training coordinator.
