Where can you find cheap gas in Alexandria? Nationally, gas prices have increased 14% since the Iran war began, according to AAA. The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline jumped nearly 27 cents since last week to $3.25. The conflict in the Middle East has sent crude oil prices higher to the mid $70/barrel range. The recent increase puts the national average at the same price as it was in early April of 2025.
Springtime typically sees higher gas prices as gasoline demand rises and summer-blend gasoline production begins. The last time the national average made a similar weekly jump was back in March of 2022 during the start of the Russia/Ukraine conflict.
Here’s a look at the cheapest gas prices across Alexandria on Sunday, March 8, according to Gas Buddy:

- Exxon & Coastal, 2838 Duke St.: $3.05
- Exxon, 703 N. Washington St.: $3.09
- Shell, 442 N. Henry St.: $3.19

- Liberty, 5412 Duke St.: $3.19
- Liberty, 4368 King St.: $3.19
- Shell, 2922 Duke St.: $3.19
- Exxon, 2316 S. Shirlington Road: $3.24
- Shell, 4670 Duke St.: $3.25
Consumers can also save at the pump by using their points from Harris Teeter grocery stores at affiliate gas stations and Costco members get a deal at Costco gas pumps. The closest Costco gas pumps in Alexandria are at 7940 Richmond Highway. Harris Teeter partners with participating BP and Amoco gas stations.
The national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station stayed the same at 39 cents.
