Volunteer Alexandria is pleased to announce its second implementation of Board Impact. This program provides company employees and individuals interested in Board Service with a comprehensive foundation in nonprofit governance and board leadership. The training prepares professionals to serve as informed, strategic, and mission-aligned board members. “Volunteer Alexandria’s Board Impact Program is a win for nonprofits, leaders, and the broader community. The ’speed matching’ format makes it easy and energizing for Move2Learn to meet talented professionals who are eager to give back, and those new connections are helping us strengthen our organization and our impact in Alexandria’s public schools.” Brooke Sydnor Curran, president and CEO of Move2Learn
The program is designed for professionals 18 years and older interested in nonprofit board service; Employees seeking leadership development opportunities; and businesses that encourage community engagement and civic leadership. Complete the application by April 15 https://bit.ly/BIP4IND2026.

Participants will learn:
- An overview of the nonprofit sector and emerging trend
- The different types of nonprofit boards
- Core functions and responsibilities of board members
- The importance of healthy governance and strong board culture

- How to elevate their personal and professional presence as a board member
The program will include speaker Jennica M. Jardine Whitfield, CPA, KWC; Dr. Tammy Mann, TSM Strategic Advising; and several nonprofit Executive Directors, who will share details about their experiences. Participants leave with practical knowledge and a clear understanding of how to contribute effectively at the board level.
“The Board Impact Program connected us with three dedicated individuals who truly understood what it means to serve. They arrived with a clear understanding of board governance and the importance of development work. Having one of those candidates join our board last month has already made a positive impact on Seaport”, says Debra Roepke, Executive Director of the Alexandria Seaport Foundation.
