Virginia’s American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250), the Commonwealth’s official organization to commemorate Virginia’s role in the 250th anniversary of American Independence, is calling on every Virginian—from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Chesapeake Bay—to help ignite a celebration worthy of the nation’s founding home.
VA250 is inviting Virginians—and all Americans—to reconnect with their country, in the place that made it possible. VA250 aims to:
Educate Americans, including our students, about our history, our founding ideals, and our system of government
Engage with every community and every Virginia locality in events that tell a complete story
Inspire us all to commit to the values inherent in American citizenship
To help Virginians join the effort to educate, engage and inspire, VA250 is launching America Made In Virginia, a bold new rallying cry.America Made In Virginia is a powerful statement based on a simple truth: from the ideas that inspired it to the battlefields that decided it, more of what made America happen, happened here in Virginia.
“We recognize that while July 4, 2026 is important, it is merely a milestone in a larger historical narrative,” said Carly Fiorina, VA250 national honorary chair. “Our founders knew there was more work required 250 years ago, and work remains to be done. Here in Virginia, we are inspired to lead the way in helping America ‘To Form A More Perfect Union’.”
“The Semiquincentennial is not simply about our past; it’s about how our founding continues to shape our present and future,” said Cheryl Wilson, VA250 executive director. "There is no better time than now to reflect on our founding principles. This is an exciting time for everyone – from individuals, to businesses, to educators and students – to join in this effort and reconnect with the ideals that make us all uniquely American."
VA250 encourages all Virginians – individuals, students, teachers, businesses large and small – to trumpet the America Made In Virginia rallying cry and participate in this once-in-a-lifetime commemorative event.
Businesses – Small and large businesses are invited to partner with VA250 to develop Virginia-wide experiences such as commemorative specials, programs or sponsorships
Educators – VA250 calls on teachers to leverage this unique educational opportunity to captivate students through the programs and resources available through the Education Committee’s work
Individuals – All Virginians can be America Made In Virginia ambassadors by signing up to stay engaged, attend commemorative events, volunteer and join their local VA250 committee
