The 18th anniversary season of the Alexandria Aces is almost here, and for the team to be ready for the first pitch on Tuesday, June 2, a crucial piece of the puzzle is still missing.
The organization is making an urgent, final appeal to the Alexandria community: the team is down to its last few openings for host families.
Players are currently packing their bags and beginning to arrive in Alexandria. To ensure they have a stable, welcoming home base for the summer, the Aces are looking for a handful of local households to open their doors.
“The energy around the team is already building,” says Aces President Frank Fannon. “We’re at a critical point. We need these last few spots filled immediately so our players are settled and ready to compete. Hosting is more than just providing a room, it’s a vital way to support these young men and a fantastic way to become a true part of our 18th season.”
What’s involved?
Hosting is designed to be a seamless experience. A host family provides a private bedroom, bathroom access, and laundry facilities.
Because these players are in Alexandria for an intensive season of training and games, they handle their own transportation and meals. It is a simple, rewarding way to offer a "home away from home" for a talented young athlete.
The impact of being a host:
- Front-row access: A season pass for the entire family to every home game this summer.
- Community recognition: Special acknowledgement on the field during Host Family night.
- Lasting connections: The unique, rewarding experience of mentoring top-tier collegiate talent.
“It really just becomes part of your summer rhythm,” says one long-time host. “You’re welcoming an athlete into your home and cheering them on at the ballpark. It’s been incredible to watch these guys grow, and our kids look forward to having them around every season.”
How to step up
With Opening Day just days away, the goal is to finalize all player placements within the next 48 hours.
