The Upland Park development in Alexandria's West End will start construction in July, according to the developer.
The neighborhood of small, old single family homes will be demolished to make way for 92 new townhomes. The project site is just northwest of the intersection of Seminary Road and Beauregard Street.
The first steps will be demolishing those homes, according to Chris Bell of Hekemian & Co., which is involved in the project. Alexandria Development Associates is the owner of the properties at this time, NV Homes will be building the actual townhomes. The first of the new townhomes may be available for residents to move into in late 2025.
Hekemian plans to set up a website for the project and will continue to host quarterly meetings for area residents.
Foster and Fairbanks avenues will be realigned as part of the project, and eventually a new traffic signal will be installed at Fairbanks Avenue and Seminary Road.
