Sunglass Hut will be opening at 622 King Street, in a portion of the former GAP store.
Store construction is almost complete, but the company has not yet announced any grand opening celebration.
Sunglass Hut started in 1971 as a kiosk in a mall in Miami, Florida. Now, the company has more than 3,000 retail locations worldwide. The closest locations to Alexandria are in Arlington, at the Pentagon City Mall, and at the Tanger Outlets near National Harbor in Maryland.
In addition to selling high-end sunglasses from brands like Prada, Versace and Ray-Ban, Sunglass Hut has teamed up with OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation to promote and support sustainable access to vision care for those in need.
