Celebrating its 16th anniversary, Alexandria’s Giving Day proves once again the power of collective action to raise critical funds to support our local nonprofit organizations and the community, organizers said Friday.
This year, Spring2ACTion brought together more than 7,000 donors to raise an impressive $3.4 million in support of 198 participating organizations, demonstrating the extraordinary generosity and commitment of the Alexandria community.
“Spring2ACTion is more than just a day of giving, it’s a powerful demonstration of what we can achieve when we come together as a neighbors helping neighbors,” said Heather Peeler, president and CEO of ACT for Alexandria.
“Alexandria is a special place. People choose to live and work here because it is a vibrant, diverse, and welcoming place. We have high-caliber and resourceful nonprofit organizations, along with generous and engaged residents, businesses, and faith communities,” Peeler added. “At ACT, we are committed to bringing people together to create a community where everyone feels a sense of belonging and where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
In addition to the thousands of individual donors and nonprofit participants, this year’s event was made possible through the support of businesses and sponsors, whose partnership helped amplify the impact of the day.
“We are so grateful for the 7,000+ donors, 198 nonprofits, 60+ businesses that made this year’s event such a success,” Peeler said. “Strong nonprofits are more important than ever as we continue to navigate ongoing uncertainty and challenges. By giving together and working collaboratively, we are helping to stabilize vital services and advance the public good. Thank you for standing with us and supporting our local nonprofits and the community we love.”
While the official giving day has concluded, donors still have time to make an impact. The Spring2ACTion online platform will remain open for donations through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 26. Donors can visit www.Spring2ACTion.org to search by organization name or cause and give via mobile phone, tablet, or computer. The platform will also remain available year-round as a resource for learning about and supporting Alexandria’s nonprofit community.
