When "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" returns Monday from its holiday break, their first guest will be none other than Virginia Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger.
Spanberger will guest on the show Monday, Jan. 12, just days before she is sworn in as the Commonwealth's first female governor. The appearance takes place ahead of her inauguration Saturday, Jan. 17 in Richmond.
Inauguration activities will kick off Friday and continue through Sunday in Richmond.
Another scheduled guest on the show Monday is Jimmy Kimmell, who hosts his own late-night show on ABC. He'll participate in "The Colbert Questionert," although the segment was recorded in September, according to CBS. Typical questions for the "Questionert" include topics such as a guest's favorite sandwich or asking them "What do you think happens when we die?" according to Latenighter.com.
"The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" airs Monday through Friday, 11:35 p.m. to 12:37 a.m., ET/PT on CBS.
Colbert began hosting the show in 2015, taking over from David Letterman, who had hosted the program since 1993.
"The Late Show" was unexpectedly canceled in July amid financial concerns by CBS but many have speculated the move was politically motivated due to Colbert's repeated criticizing of President Trump including while the network had dealings with the administration. While the show is #1 in its time slot, with between 2 million to 3 million viewers, it has seen a decline in younger viewers. The program is expected to air its last show in May.
