In Condo Canyon in Alexandria’s West End, Wesley Housing is moving ahead with proposed plans to construct a multifamily apartment building with an underground parking garage next to the existing ParcView apartment building at 5380 Holmes Run Pkwy.
The existing ParcView could be renovated and connected to the new building.
"Wesley Housing is exploring the redevelopment of an underutilized portion of the site which currently includes the pool and a portion of the parking lot, while preserving, and eventually fully renovating, the existing building," Wesley Housing explains.
Right now, ParcView is a single 14-story building with 149 units, most of which are affordable at 60% of the area median income. The infrastructure is old (the building was built in 1973 and renovated in 2006), according to Wesley Housing.
Construction has not started, and the entire project would not be completed in 2027 or later, according to Wesley Housing. However, city budget documents indicated that bond financing for this affordable housing project may not be available until even later, because the city has already committed extensive funding to rebuild the Samuel Madden neighborhood, Sanse & Naja in Arlandria, Seminary Road affordable homes for purchase and other projects.
