Organizers of the Old Town Festival of Speed & Style, presented by Burke & Herbert Bank, today presented money raised from its events this year to its selected charities of choice: ALIVE!, Community Lodgings and the National Breast Center Foundation, in a ceremony held on Market Square in Old Town Alexandria.
This year, the Sixth Annual Festival raised in excess of $35,000 as a result of its event held on May 18, 2025, and via other fundraising efforts. Additional proceeds were generated via the High-Octane Ball, a glamorous, formal and fun gala held the night before the Festival; and thorough generous donations from sponsors such as title sponsor Burke & Herbert Bank, as well as over 120 car registrants.
The Old Town Festival of Speed & Style is a single-day, free event held annually on the lower blocks of King Street near Old Town’s waterfront, and around Market Square. Now in its sixth year, the Festival featured more than 120 rare and unusual supercars from around the world for up close viewing enjoyment.
This year’s Festival drew an estimated 40,000 spectators – including residents, families, visitors and car enthusiasts from across the region to view the array of high-performance, exotic and racing vehicles. The event also featured a unique fashion celebration that showcased styles that were matched with the themed cars on display – thus the connection to “Speed & Style.” The Old Town Festival of Speed & Style also featured live music, sponsor displays, and provided festival goers an opportunity to explore and enjoy Old Town shops and restaurants.
The Festival is the brainchild of Rick Myllenbeck, a resident of Alexandria, and the organization’s
founder and chairman. The event is co-produced by a team of more than 20 passionate Alexandrians who are vintage car collectors, experts, and enthusiasts. They all volunteer their time to coordinate this event.
“We are delighted to have raised another substantial sum of money to donate to these three outstanding organizations that have such powerful and positive impact in the community,” said Myllenbeck. “The Old Town Festival of Speed & Style has always been about doing something special for Alexandria. This includes sharing beautiful cars and fashion with everyone, bringing interest to Alexandria – and foot traffic to Old Town – and raising funds for these charities. This is why we do what we do,” said Myllenbeck. “It is an absolute joy to host the Festival every year, and we look forward to doing it again next year.”
“ALIVE! is honored to serve as the anchor beneficiary of the Old Town Festival of Speed & Style, an event that not only celebrates the spirit of our city but also fuels critical support for neighbors experiencing food and housing insecurity", said Jennifer Ayers, executive director, ALIVE. "It’s a powerful reminder of how coming together as a community can spark action, inspire generosity, and help our city thrive.”
“Community Lodgings is deeply grateful to the Old Town Festival of Speed & Style for their generous support," said Lynn Thomas, executive director, Community Lodgings. "This contribution is more than a donation, it’s an investment in our mission, our community, and the people we serve. Partnerships like this make meaningful change possible, and we’re thankful for the belief in what we can achieve when we come together.”
To date, The Old Town Festival of Speed & Style has raised more than $175,000 – all given to caringly selected local charities.
