Volunteers Are the Heart of Alexandria celebrates volunteers who gave their time and expertise to make our city a better place for all of us in 2024.
Each year, Volunteer Alexandria recognizes and honors the work of volunteers and businesses that support Alexandria's nonprofit organizations, public agencies and community. Volunteers give vital assistance in fulfilling our mission, and we couldn't do what we do without the help of those who donate their time, talents, and skills.
Nominate Your Outstanding Volunteer(s)
The awardees will receive a tree planted in their honor instead of a plaque.
You may also nominate someone or yourself for the President's Volunteer Service Award. Finally, all 2024 volunteer names will be included in the Serve Virginia Honor Roll in May!
Volunteer Alexandria has a 45-year legacy of caring for Alexandria - its people and its nonprofits. We mobilize and inspire people to donate time and talents to support our nonprofit partners and community at large. This celebration honors all Alexandria volunteers who give from the heart.
Volunteer Alexandria serves as a matchmaker between the passion in people’s hearts and community needs to strengthen our community.
Our lives have changed because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the inflation. Thousands of individuals and families still need help and the number of families asking for groceries are still in the thousands. Which means more volunteers are needed to pack groceries, deliver meals, and much more. Mental health is impacting many more children, youth, adults, and older adults and volunteers assist to address mental health.
Let us all take a moment to thank EVERY volunteer. You can be part of by sponsoring this event. Nonprofits nominate their stars.
