Alexandria and Fairfax County voters have been heading to the polls for weeks to vote early, culminating with Election Day on Nov. 5.
Across the country, nearly 40% of voters cast their votes early (absentee or in-person), which meant shorter lines at the polls on Tuesday. As of Tuesday morning, more than 2.3 million Virginia residents had voted early.
In Alexandria City, 64% of registered voters participated in the election (with 76,164 ballots cast from 119, 388 registered voters). In Fairfax County, there was slightly more voter turnout, at 68% (561,368 out of 830,494 registered voters).
PRESIDENT
While most of the media attention had been focused on the seemingly tight race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, there were four other presidential candidates on the ballot in Virginia.
Alexandria and Fairfax County strongly supported Vice President Kamala Harris.
Vice President Kamala Harris won in every City of Alexandria precinct.

- Kamala D. Harris (Democrat) – 71.16%
- Donald J. Trump (Republican) – 24.11%
- Jill E. Stein (Green) – 1.61%
- Chase R. Oliver (Libertarian) – 0.80%
- Claudia De la Cruz (Independent) – 0.32%
- Cornel R. West (Independent) – 0.40%
- Write-in candidate – 1.60%
Harris won in all precincts in Alexandria.

Trump won in two precints – 616 Gunston at Gunston Elementary School in Lorton, and 859 Liberty at Liberty Middle School in Clifton.
