Alexandria is rolling out the red carpet for shoppers and visitors on Thanksgiving Day and "Plaid Friday," Alexandria's version of Black Friday that involves mostly locally owned boutiques.
On Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at all metered spaces and residential permit parking districts throughout the City of Alexandria.

Plaid Friday is taking place once again on Friday, Nov. 28. Plaid Friday is Alexandria’s version of Black Friday, paying homage to the City's Scottish roots and celebrating the unique blend of small local businesses throughout the city.
