The Duke Street in Motion project team released two updated corridor concepts as the project to reimagine the Duke Street corridor continues.
In addition, city officials are getting feedback in a new way: Signs on Duke Street now have a QR code residents can use to send feedback on proposed concepts. (Residents can also now or text "Hello Duke Street" or "Hola Duke Street" to 703-991-2899 to engage!)
The two corridor concepts released in March focus on how rapid transit buses would run along Duke Street from Van Dorn to the King Street Metro station — either along the curb or in a center lane, though in some areas the buses would mix with normal traffic.
Both concepts are designed to make Duke Street run more efficiently, particularly for buses, while increasing safety for car, bike and pedestrian traffic.
From a project team presentation in March, the two concepts are as follows:
Concept A
Concept B
