Big changes are coming to Duke Street.
City Council hosted a marathon meeting taking public feedback and comments on the Duke Street Transitway project, which would create lanes for buses, new pedestrian crossings and generally change how Duke Street is used by all types of commuters. City council voted in favor of the project.
With a project of this scale, it's nearly impossible to make everyone happy. Public comments both for and against the project took up several hours during this week's city council meeting.
Construction will start in 2026 and will be completed by the end of 2027.
The final presentation offered by city staff claimed there will be time savings for all users (cars and buses), increased safety for pedestrians and fewer crashes.
The following are slides from the final presentation, including renderings.
