Residents and office workers around Kingstowne will soon have a healthier option for a quick bite to eat.
Chopt Creative Salad Company is opening at 5926 Kingstowne Center, Suite 110, according to construction records. The store is already mapped on the Kingstowne Town Center website.
Chopt was founded in 2001 by friends Tony Shure and Colin McCabe and has expanded to 65 locations and counting in New York, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Connecticut, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Until the Kingstowne location opens, the closest locations to Alexandria are in D.C., Arlington, McLean and Vienna.
In addition to serving salads, Chopt also serves warm grain bowls. Customers can pick one of Chopt’s signature salads or bowls like the Mexican Caesar Salad or Key West Jerk Chicken Bowl or build a salad or bowl of their own.
The new Chopt location will open next to &pizza in the former Avenue store next to Panera. Avenue, a retailer for plus-sized women’s clothing, declared bankruptcy in 2019 and closed all of its physical stores that same year.
According to a sign on the door, Chopt will open on Nov. 17.
