According to plans filed with the City of Alexandria, Carr is seeking to redevelop its office building at 901 N. Pitt St. into a multifamily residential building with an art and retail component.
The 1.36 acre site currently houses an office building named “Waterman Place,” which will be demolished if the plans are approved. In its place, Carr proposes to build a 102 foot multi-family building that contains 250 units with 260 parking spaces in an underground garage. The building would also contain a 6,500 square feet art component and 3,075 of retail space.
The site is located between Montgomery Park and the Gables Old Town North apartment building which contains a number of retail and restaurants on the ground floor.
901 N. Pitt St. would not be the only project Carr has going in the Old Town North neighborhood. The company is currently redeveloping the former Crowne Plaza Hotel into a 13-story, 122-unit residential condominium tower and 41 townhomes as well as a new home for the MetroStage theater.
Carr is also transforming the old MetroStage building at 1201 N. Royal St. into an arts-focused luxury condo development called The Muse.
