AlexRenew Operating Budget
AlexRenew's proposed Fiscal Year 2026 Annual Budget and resolution to adopt a two-year rate adjustment has been posted for public notice. AlexRenew will host a public hearing on May 17 to discuss the budget, review the rate adjustment, and receive public comment.
AlexRenew is proposing a $258.3 million budget for its fiscal year, beginning on July 1, 2025 (Fiscal Year 2026) to ensure sufficient resources for AlexRenew's daily operations as well as ongoing investments for AlexRenew's infrastructure. The budget includes $96 million of continued RiverRenew expenditures. To support this significant capital investment, AlexRenew is proposing a two-year rate adjustment of 5.0% beginning July 1, 2025, and 5.7% beginning July 1, 2026.
On April 15, the AlexRenew Board of Directors unanimously approved for public notice the proposed Fiscal Year 2026 Operating and Capital Budget and a resolution of intent to adopt the proposed two-year rate adjustment.
AlexRenew is hosting a public hearing on Saturday, May 17, 2025, starting at 9:30 a.m. to review the proposed Fiscal Year 2026 Operating and Capital Budget and proposed two-year rate adjustment and to receive public comment.
The public hearing will be hosted on the 6th floor of AlexRenew’s administrative offices located at 1800 Limerick Street, 6th floor, Alexandria, VA 22314. Members of the public can attend in person or access the hearing through the live broadcast.

The RiverRenew program is the largest infrastructure project in Alexandria’s history and will prevent millions of gallons of combined sewage from polluting the Potomac River, Hunting Creek, and Hooffs Run each year. AlexRenew achieved several major milestones on its state-mandated RiverRenew project in 2024, including the completion of the 2.2-mile Waterfront Tunnel and Hooffs Run Interceptor. As crews continue to make progress on the largest infrastructure project in Alexandria’s history, work is now largely focused on the construction of the pumping stations, located at the heart of AlexRenew’s treatment plant.
When RiverRenew is completed in 2026, these new structures will capture and convey millions of gallons of combined sewage that would otherwise pollute the Potomac River – creating safer, healthier waterways for the community, wildlife, and future generations.
