Who knew baby foxes were so cute?
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is always on call to help out with animal emergencies. One of their latest adventures this spring? A recent rescue of seven fox cubs from a window well in Alexandria.
The task fell to Chief of Animal Services Tony Rankin, whose rescue went viral when the social media team posted a video of the task, racking up thousands of views online.
Mother fox was nearby and was likely relieved when her cubs were returned to her. If you have any animal emergencies in your neighborhood, be sure to call Animal Services at (703) 746-4444.

Here's the social media post from the Animal Welfare League:
With flowers blooming and pollen flying, our Animal Services team has been getting lots of wildlife calls. These 7 fox kits all ended up trapped in a window well, proving that when one sibling makes a questionable life choice … the rest will absolutely follow.
“If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?” Apparently yes. Yes, they would.
The good news? Mom was close by, patiently supervising the whole adventure and safely escorted her little daredevils to a better location once they were freed. 🦊💛
🌸 Spring reminder: if you find wildlife babies, mom is usually nearby. In most cases, it’s best to leave them be, but sometimes they need a little help. You can always call us at 703-746-4444 if you see an animal in distress or have a wildlife question.
