The City of Alexandria is giving residents through Dec. 10 to provide input on the Alexandria Mobility Plan, which is an update to the 2008 Transportation Master Plan.
To help facilitate engagement, Transportation & Environmental Services staff will be hosting a few pop-ups this week. You can also provide engagement through engagement.alexandriava.gov/alexandria-mobility-plan.
The pop-ups will be:
- 7 - 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at the T.C. Williams Boys Basketball Game at T.C. Williams High School, 3300 King St.
- 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at Global Market at Mark Center, 1476 N. Beauregard St.
- 4 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at Forest 24-Hour Laundromat, 4118 Mt. Vernon Ave.
When the Transportation Master Plan was written in 2008, Alexandria was very different — the Mark Center was under construction, there were no Express Lanes on the Beltway, no scooters and no Waze, to name a few things.
"The AMP will serve as a policy-oriented, strategic update to the Transportation Master Plan," Alexandria officials explain online. "The AMP team is working with the public to update the vision and goals, objectives, and priority strategies to help guide City staff and policy makers on important decisions related to transportation over the next 5 to 10 years. This effort is part of an ongoing process - the AMP will continue to be updated periodically going forward."
